Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band is where the heart of Southern rock meets the soul of the blues. Fronted by the charismatic Ray Long, the band blends gritty guitar riffs, soulful vocals, and a driving rhythm section that transports their audience straight onto the legendary Highway 61. With roots in the blues and a flair for Southern storytelling, they’ve carved out a sound that’s both timeless and fresh. Whether they’re rocking local venues or headlining regional festivals, Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band delivers an electrifying live experience that keeps the spirit of the blues alive.

Their journey is also a story of transformation and camaraderie. Formed nearly 15 years ago by Ray and longtime bassist Lee Coulter, the band experienced several lineup changes and even a hiatus along the way. Becky McDaniel first joined as a guest performer before eventually coming on board full-time after the band’s break. Alongside Becky came her husband, James McDaniel, who transitioned from helping behind the scenes to becoming the band’s rhythm guitarist. With the addition of Butch Carroll, a highly respected local drummer, the band found the missing piece that completed the lineup—what Becky jokingly refers to as their “Island of Misfit Toys.”

Most recently, the band welcomed keyboardist and vocalist Lindsay Camp to the lineup. While Lindsay is active in another project, she has spent the past year performing regularly with Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band, becoming a natural and seamless fit. She is excited to embrace the band as her official side project, and the group is thrilled to make her a permanent part of the lineup. Her musicianship and chemistry with the band add a new dimension to their sound and live performances.

Each member brings their own journey of growth and transformation into the band, creating a family bound by music and a shared love of the blues. Together, they’ve rebranded, written new songs, and proven that the best bands are built on connection, trust, and passion. Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band are excited to be finding their groove and carrying the spirit of Highway 61 forward for a new generation of fans.
